U.S. Equipment Company was founded in 1946 by Mr. George Simon Sr. The tradition continues today with Paul Simon and George Simon II, the second generation in the machine tool industry. Over the years, our Company has provided technical, rebuild, retool and used machine tool services to many Global Customers in the automotive, trucking and marine industries. Our Facilities include a 70,000 sq. ft, temperature controlled building with a climate controlled inspection lab, 25 ton cranes, 20 feet under the hook and additional inspection, testing and support equipment.
In the early years, the Company confined its activities to the buying, refurbishing and selling of used tool room and production equipment. As our customer’s needs changed, our services evolved to meet their needs. The introduction of Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP) requires that both machines and process are statistically capable. As more and more machines are re-utilized for different processes, it is crucial to establish machine capability through our Machine Capability Evaluation service early in the retool program. This process overlays the machine evaluation results with part process requirements to determine the machine corrective action requirements that must performed during process development and tooling and fixture acquisition. Our approach guarantees that the machines are capable at the time of machine qualification process and ensures that the machines will be ready to run a production rate when released to manufacturing. We have prepared a Retool Case Study showing how we saved one of the automotive companies over $1.5 Million utilizing this approach on the rebuild/retool of a line manufacturing transmission oil pump housings.
As noted earlier, U.S. Equipment Company also provides Turnkey Retool and Integration services. On these projects, we take complete responsibility for machine and process capability. Machine capability is established by performing all Machinery Rebuild and Electrical Retrofit services required by the process. Process capability is insured by providing all necessary advance quality planning application, engineering, process and design FMEA’s, fixture design and tooling specifications and fixture build and tooling purchases. Our Turnkey Retools are managed by assigned project managers and the equipment is run-off on the customer’s floor to the designated Cpk using 6 sigma statistical requirements.
Some customers only request that we provide Machinery Rebuild, Machinery Remanufacture or Electrical Retrofit services. Our rebuilt machines are restored to OEM tolerances and specifications. Our remanufactured machines are rebuilt mechanically and retrofitted with "state-of-the-art" electrical controls. We will rebuild and remanufacture our customers' and machines that we hold in inventory. All rebuilt and remanufactured machines come with a (1) One Year In-Service Warranty
